Double-storey side extension and single-storey rear extension to existing dwelling house.
Proposed works: Selective pruning of fine secondary growth and small-diameter branches on the house-facing side of the canopy only, limited to growth extending towards over over the roof/eaves of the dwelling, to provide appropriate clearance between the tree canopy and the roof/eaves of the dwelling. The works are intended to remove only those branches and secondary growth necessary to achieve clearance from the roof/eaves. No general crown reduction, topping or substantial alteration to the overall form of the tree is proposed. Reason for works: Branches and secondary growth from the tree extend towards and over the roof/eaves of the dwelling, providing direct access to the roof for squirrels and other wildlife, with the consequent risk of access to the roof space. The purpose of the works is to establish and maintain reasonable separation between the canopy and the dwelling whilst retaining the tree and minimising intervention. All works are to be minimal and targeted, retaining the natural shape, balance and amenity value of the tree, and carried out in accordance with BS 3998:2010 (Tree Work ? Recommendations). HAR/ TPO 67W.

It is a sycamore tree, under 6 years old with trunks under 7.5cm in diameter. I wish to completely remove it in order to save a nearby old magnolia. The old magnolia is less than 75cm away at the trunk and a gardener has advised me that the sycamore will kill the magnolia given enough time. Given the magnolia is old and decorative and in keeping with the area I would rather preserve that over the sycamore. I've also been advised that the proximity to the property (as seen in the sketch plan) means the sycamore poses a risk to the property foundations over time.Total removal is sought. HAR/CA34
